Oceans of Waste.

This piece was exhibited as part of a series of 3 works titled Badly-Done-Biomimicry by Ryan C. P. Boyle; Oceans of Waste is a suspended sculpture depicting aquatic creatures constructed from plastic waste.

The above video details the construction of the work, the internals of which is composed of 3V motors, battery packs and 2 switches & led lights.

These internal components were designed to make the creatures glow and rotate, imitating translucent glowing creatures you might find in the depths of the oceans however constructed of waste & throwaway electronics.

These were then hung from a fishing wire attached to a metal frame which was actually assembled from an old broken bed.

The video also details the construction of the creatures & the frame for further detail please refer to the video.

Anxious Mother.

This piece was exhibited as part of a series of 3 works titled Badly-Done-Biomimicry by Ryan C. P. Boyle; Anxious Mother is an interactive sound-art piece & kinetic sculpture, constructed from synthetic & electrical waste components.

“Approach the nest without upsetting the mother.”

The above video details the construction of the work, the internals of which are composed of an Arduino Uno board, 2 ultrasonic sensors an SD card module & card, as well as, an amp-section constructed with the necessary small components, such as a capacitor & resistor.

These internal components were designed to playback 2 audio files of birdsong when the sensors were triggered by proximity.

This was then built into a wooden box & brought to life using faux-fur.

The video also details the construction of the nest & mobile for further detail please refer to the video.

As always thanks for reading!

Kind regards,
Ryan C. P. Boyle.
